It was an incredible feeling when I got the golden ticket in the judges round of my American Idol audition! Hollywood Week has a reputation of being fiercely competitive, so I knew I had to give it my all. I spent 3 months preparing intensely for this one week, commuting to NYC for daily classes, and even started online schooling to accommodate my busy rehearsal schedule. It’s hard to express the excitement I felt for this week in words; I worked my hardest and put my soul into this.
The night I landed in LA, I was shocked to wake up at 3am with a severe fever and sore throat. I felt so prepared in every aspect of my performance, but sickness is one of those things that isn’t in our control, and that was hard to take in. I truly tried my best to pull through it, but by the time my performance came around, my voice completely gave out. Despite it being a very difficult experience to endure, I came out realizing that things happen for a reason. I felt at home on the stage, and that moment proved to me that I was born to be a musician.
While it was heartbreaking to hear that “no,” it also lit a fire inside of me to work 100x harder than ever before. I’ll forever remember this surreal & life changing experience! The American Idol chapter may be behind me now, but great opportunities are unfolding through the wonderful people I’m meeting along this journey; I can’t wait to see what the future holds. 🙂
I’d like to thank the American Idol crew for this great opportunity, my fans, and everyone who has been so supportive. I wish those who made it to the top 24 the very best of luck. Onward and upward now!
