That whole day was a blur!
My family was so excited to be in Little Rock’s American Idol waiting room, that everyone caught on to our energy. Amidst my family’s encouraging words, my dad kept smiling and confidently saying (multiple times), “You will get that golden ticket!” No pressure! If only my dad was a judge hahaha
Before my audition, my heart was pounding and I kissed the American Idol logo in the little waiting booth for good luck. I was scared to think it was possible I might go home without the golden ticket. When the light buzzed green, I went into the room. I remember first talking to Harry, Jennifer and Keith about my strange beetroot cupcakes like that was the perfect way to get to know me. Growing up loving American Idol, the whole experience was so surreal, which I mentioned to the judges several times. I played my own arrangement of “How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston.
Before the audition, I had this idea that I had to have one very specific persona on who I wanted to showcase myself as. The best thing I learned from the whole experience was to be authentic & honest. You don’t have to fit into one personality at all times.
I loved getting to meet everyone who puts this incredible show together, from the producers & coordinators, to the extensive crew and beautiful judges. Everyone was so supportive and enthusiastic. I had a blast and can’t wait to share more experiences with you guys!
I GOT THE GOLDEN TICKET TO HOLLYWOOD!
& let me know if you have any questions about the audition and I’ll be glad to answer!
